Terms of Service

Version 1.1. Effective on first public availability of SealRunner.com. Operated by MPLLC ("MPLLC", "we", "us").

1. What SealRunner is, and is not

SealRunner is an online marketplace that helps people who need a notary ("Customers") find and contact independent notaries public ("Notaries"). SealRunner connects customers with independent notaries. SealRunner does not perform notarizations. SealRunner is not a notary public, is not a remote online notarization platform, does not perform identity proofing, does not issue electronic seals or signatures, and does not witness, record or store notarizations or notarized documents.

2. Independent notaries

Notaries listed on SealRunner are independent professionals. They are not employees, agents, partners or joint venturers of MPLLC. Each Notary is solely responsible for holding a valid commission, complying with the laws and rules of their jurisdiction, determining which notarial acts they may lawfully perform, setting and disclosing their fees, and the quality and legality of the services they provide. Any agreement to perform a notarial act is solely between the Customer and the Notary.

3. No legal advice; no guarantee of legality

Nothing on SealRunner is legal advice. We do not determine whether a document requires notarization, whether a particular notarial act is legally permissible for your document or situation, or whether a Notary may lawfully perform it. Rules differ by state and change over time. Information on SealRunner about jurisdictions (for example whether remote online notarization is permitted) is general configuration data for matching purposes, may be incomplete or out of date, and must not be relied upon as legal advice. Consult a licensed attorney for advice about your document.

4. Requests, routing and status

When you submit a request, we send your first name, contact details and request summary to the Notary you selected, or, if you choose "send to matching notaries", to a small number of Notaries whose listings match your criteria. A request is not a confirmed appointment. Notaries decide independently whether to accept. If a Notary accepts, we share their contact details with you and release any other Notaries who received the same request. Time, place, identification requirements and fee are agreed directly between you and the Notary. Requests expire automatically if unanswered. We provide a private status link; anyone with that link can view the status of that request, so keep it confidential.

5. Verification

A "Verified" label means MPLLC manually reviewed commission information supplied by the Notary against publicly available state records at a point in time. It is not a warranty of current standing, competence, insurance, background or the legality of any act. Listings marked "Not yet verified" contain self-reported information that has not been reviewed.

6. Accounts and listing responsibilities

Notaries must provide accurate legal name, commission number, commissioning state and expiration date, keep them current, and remove or update a listing when a commission expires, is suspended or is revoked. Notaries must not list service methods (mobile, online, office) or remote online notarization authorization they do not hold. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your password confidential. We may suspend or remove any listing or account that we reasonably believe is inaccurate, unlawful, abusive or harmful to Customers or the marketplace.

7. Acceptable use

You may not: upload or send identity documents, document contents or other sensitive information through SealRunner; submit false or misleading requests or listings; use automated means to scrape, harvest or overload the service; attempt to access other users' data; or use SealRunner for any unlawful purpose. We apply rate limits and other abuse controls and may block access.

8. Fees and future paid features

Searching and requesting is free for Customers. Notary fees are set by the Notary and paid directly to the Notary; SealRunner does not process or hold payments for notarial services. A basic Notary listing is currently free. If MPLLC introduces paid Notary features (such as enhanced profiles, priority availability, featured placement or per-lead pricing), their terms and any effect on how listings are presented will be disclosed on the Marketplace Relationship Disclosure page before they take effect.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it, and forms part of these Terms.

10. Disclaimers

SealRunner is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, MPLLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, and makes no warranty regarding any Notary, any notarial act, the availability of any Notary, or the accuracy of listings.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MPLLC is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from the acts or omissions of any Notary or Customer, a defective or rejected notarization, a missed appointment, or reliance on any information on SealRunner. Where liability cannot be excluded, MPLLC's aggregate liability is limited to the greater of the amount you paid MPLLC in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars.

12. Indemnity

Notaries agree to indemnify and hold MPLLC harmless from claims arising from their services, listings or breach of these Terms.

13. Jurisdiction variability and changes

Notary law varies by state and territory. Features may be unavailable or restricted in some jurisdictions. We may update these Terms; the current version is always at this address and continued use after an update means acceptance. Material changes affecting Notary accounts will be notified by email where we have an address on file.
